North Kerry League 2010

13th February - St Senans 0:10 - Knocknagoshel 0:09
The bare minimum seperated these teams after 60 minutes of hard fought football at Mountcoal played in perfect conditions. St Senans started well and looked the sharper for the first 20 minutes until Knocknagoshel blew off the winter cobwebs and started to play football. Senans were three points in fron until James Walsh with a free and a well struck Mike Murphy point had cut the deficit. Senans again got onn top and 5 - 2 up after 25 minutes. Points from John O'Keeffe and Aidan Walsh had the game back to the minimum before Senans got the last score of the first half. Knock came out in the second half with a bit more purpose and a well pointed free from James Walsh and a score from play by Denis Walsh had the game level. Knock looked stronger now and went ahead with another point from James Walsh and a nice score from John O'Keeffe. Knock played better football than Senans and should have been more than just a point up with a minute to go and this proved very costly. Senans scored to level and got the final score with the last point of the game to win by one. Team: Edmond Walsh, Mike Brosnan, Lee Roche, John Brosnan, Declan O'Connell, Padraig Reidy, Denis Collins, Denis Walsh, James Walsh, Dan Roche, Joe Regan, Mike Murphy, Karl O'Connor, Aiden Walsh, John O'Keeffe. Subs: Niall Barrett for Declan O'Connell, Niall Walsh for Dan Roche.

28th February - Knocknagoshel  1:06 - Asdee 1:06
In an evenly contested encounter played at Walsh Park, Knocknagoshel on Sunday last both Asdee and Knock played out an exciting draw to gain their first North Kerry League Division 2 points of the competition.
Knock really should be winning these games and missed a number of chances near the end to secure victory. An early goal by Asdee seemed to wake Knock up and they scored a goal through Joe Regan following a great pass from James Walsh. The only other scores of the first half came from Denis Walsh with two points. Half time was Knock 1:02 Asdee 1:01. Knock played a bit better in the second half but didn't get enough scores as Asdee were much more economical with there chances. With 5 minutes to go Knock were down by one and when the whistle was blown for a leg block in the Asdee square Knock were getting ready to take the penalty but the referee decided to give a thirteen yard free. Strange decision but Denis Walsh converted and the game was tied. Knock did have another chance but missed and the games finished level. The other scorers for Knock in the second half were Joe Regan with a point and James Walsh with two. Team: Danny Walsh, Bartley O'Rahilly, Padraig Reidy, Mike Brosnan, Billy O'Rahilly, Lee Roche, Denis Collins, Denis Walsh, Mike Walsh, John Brosnan, James Walsh, Joe Regan, Seamus Mangan, Aiden Walsh, Niall Barrett.

7th March - Ballydonoghue 1:11 - Knocknagoshel 2:06
A hard fought game in Coulhard last Sunday resulted in another defeat to Knocknagoshel. This was a game that could easily have been won only for a dreadful first half performance by Knock who were down 1:07 to no score with 2 minutes left in the first half. It was only at this stage that Knock started to play and a goal from Niall Barrett and a point from James Walsh took some of the shame from the scoreboard. The half time score was Ballydonoghue 1:09 to Knock 1:01. The second half could not have been more different than the first with Knock completely dominating. The long ball was proving very effective and a good ball across the square resulted in a goal for Denis Walsh and this seemed to lift the team. Points from James Walsh, Gerry Mangan and a couple of frees from Denis Walsh had Knock to within a point with minutes to go. This was as good as it got for Knock as Ballydonoghue were awarded a rather soft free in front of the posts to seal the win. Knock will have to start playing like they did in the second half more often if results are to improve. Team: Danny Walsh, Bartley O'Rahilly, Mike Brosnan, John Brosnan, Mike Murphy, Lee Roche, Denis Collins, James Walsh, Billy O'Rahilly, Dan Roche, Denis Walsh, Seamus Mangan, Gerry Mangan, Karl O'Connor, Niall Barrett. Subs: Aiden Walsh for Karl O'Connor, Declan O'Connell for Niall Barrett

14th March - Knocknagoshel 1:13 - Ballyduff 4:05
Knocknagoshel will be bitterly disappointed following a one point defeat to Ballyduff in Knocknagoshel last Saturday. Having dominated this game throughout Knock found themselves on the wrong side of the result which must be credited to bad defending that ended with conceding 4 goals. Knock got off to a good start and were leading by a point from Dan Roche after 2 minutes. Ballyduff equalised just after and then scored from a quickly taken 45. Gerry Mangan then leveled for Knock with a well taken score. Then came Ballyduff's first goal after the ball bounced harmlessly in the square and hesitation between the goalie and corner back saw the ball trickle into the net. The next score also came Ballyduff's way and the score was now 0-02 to 1-03. Knock bounced back from this and were well on top and they scored 4 unanswered points from Denis Walsh, 1 from play and 3 frees. Just as Knock were now completely on top another defensive blunder allowed Ballyduff in for another goal. This was a real blow for Knock after playing so well against a strong breeze. Ballyduff finished off the scoring in this half and the halftime score was 0-06 to 2-04. Knock were aided by a strong breeze but Ballyduff the first to score to put 5 between the sides. Knock started to get the passes together again and scored 3 points in a row from Dan Roche, Gerry Mangan and Denis Walsh. Just as in the first half as soon as Knock seemed to be getting close on the scoreboard they concede another very soft goal and then conceded another straight after this to put Ballduff up by 8 points even though Knock had all the possession. Scoreline was now 0-09 4-05. Knock again dusted themselves down and got back to business and with a point from Denis Walsh and Aiden Walsh getting a goal and a point Knock got back on track. Denis Walsh then pointed from play and a well taken score from Niall Barrett had just two between them. With 2 minutes to go Dan Roche was fouled on the 30 and Denis Walsh pointed the free. Knock tried to get the leveler they deserved but were denied and lost by the minimum for the second time in the North Kerry league this year. Knock really should have won but must stop conceding goals to have any chance of promotion in the County League, however the forwards on display offered much encouragement. Team: Danny Walsh, Bartley O'Rahilly, Mike Brosnan, John Brosnan, Denis Collins, Lee Roche, Mike Murphy, Billy O'Rahilly, Mike Walsh, Carl O'Connor, Denis Walsh, Dan Roche, Gerry Mangan, Aiden Walsh, Niall Barrett. Subs Declan O'Connell for Bartley O'Rahilly
