North Kerry League 2009

20th March
- Knocknagoshel 1:08   -   Ballylongford 0:12
The bare minimum seperated these teams after 60 minutes of hard fought football at Willie Walsh park in perfect conditions. Ballylongford were hungry from the start and were 0-3 up after 5 minutes thanks to some good finishing from Eddie Mangan and Kiki Mulvihill. They continued to dominate as Knock just could not get going and were 0-11 to 0-00 after 20 minutes. Knock started to get to grips with Bally and after a few positional changes got their first score from James Walsh. Mike and Denis Walsh were now winning at midfield and their half back and half forward line picking up the majority of breaks. A long pass from Edmond Walsh put Cuckoo Regan through on goal he put the goalie the wrong way. Cuckoo was flying at this stage and sent the ball over after a good move by the impressive Mike Walsh. Half time score was 1-02 to 0-11.The second half started as the first finished with Knock dominating in all areas and were putting the scores on the board with ease from Denis Walsh, James Walsh, the Cuckoo and Edmond Walsh. With 10 minutes to go Bally got their first and only score of the second half to leave 2 between them. Edmond Walsh scored again with the minimum between them. Knock came very close on a number of occassions but could not get the ellusive score. Brian Matty was sprang from the bench and nearly got the equalised with 1 minute to go. He turned and shot in one movement from a very difficult angle but he was deprived of a great score as the ball agonisingly missed the target by centimeters. If Knock can repeat this second half performance for the County League then division 4 may not be too far away. Team: Danny Walsh, Bartley Rahilly, Billy Rahilly, John Brosnan, Padraig Reidy (1-0), Lee Roche, Mike Murphy, Edmond Walsh (0-2), Mike Walsh, Dan Roche, Denis Walsh (0-1), James Walsh (0-2), Niall Barrett, Joe Cuckoo Regan (1-03), Carl O'Connor. Subs: Mike Brosnan for Niall Barrett, Brian Matty for Carl O'Connor.

14th March - Knocknagoshel 1:12   -   St. Senans 1:09

8th March - Ballyduff 3:05   -   Knocknagoshel 1:07
Again the conditions were poor and credit to both teams for a very entertaining game in such terrible conditions. Knock were getting through the Ballyduff backline time after time without any end result from great positions. Then totally against the run of play Ballyduff got two goals from Mikey Boyle. Knock responded with a free from Edmond Walsh and a point from Niall Barrett. Again a few more good goal chances went a begging just before the break.
After the break Knock started brightly and a long range speculative lob by wing back Padraig Reidy found its way to the net leaving just 3 points between them. Knock were on top in all areas at this stage and Cuckoo Regan was very close to hitting the net but more points from James Walsh and Denis Walsh put pressure on Ballyduff's dwindling lead. A mix up in the Knock rear guard allowed Thomas O'Rourke in for their third goal. This proved decisive and while Knock never gave up they didn't recover from this and lost on the scoreline of 3:3 to 1:07. Team: Danny Walsh, Bartley Rahilly, Billy Rahilly, John Brosnan, Padraig Reidy (1-0), Lee Roche, Mike Murphy, Edmond Walsh (0-2), Mike Walsh, Dan Roche (0-1), Denis Walsh (0-1), Mike Brosnan (0-2), Niall Barrett (0-1), Joe Cuckoo Regan, James Walsh (0-2). Subs: Mike Duke for Niall Barrett

1st March - Knocknagoshel 0:8   -   Ballydonoghue 0:10
Played in terrible conditions Knocknagoshel narrowly lost out to a determined Ballydonoghue side. Ballydonoghue led throughout until the closing stages when Knock started to apply the pressure and should really have got something out of this with the many chances they had near the finish. Knock team: Mike Brosnan, Bartley Rahilly, Billy Rahilly, Mike Murphy, John Brosnan, Lee Roche, Padraig Reidy, Edmond Walsh(0-6), Mike Walsh, Dan Roche, Denis Walsh (0-1), James Walsh(0-1), Niall Barrett, Joe Cuckoo Regan, Aneas McAuliffe.

21 February - Asdee 1:04   -   Knocknagoshel 1:11
Asdee conceded home venue for this encounter and certainly left their true form at home as they went down to much more balanced and determined Knocknagoshel side in a poor game played in Walsh Park, Knocknagoshel on Saturday evening 21 Feb. The home side had the majority of the play throughout with the visitors playing catch-up football and they could never come to terms with the faster flowing football of their opponents who in the end won as they pleased.
Inside the opening quarter Knock had put 1-3 without reply on the scoreboard and at the break had gone further ahead when they led 1-6 to 0-2. On the changeover it was pretty much the same story with Knock calling all the shots and the visitors clinging on. With 10 minutes to go Asdee got a reprieve when Jermiah Tydings struck for a well taken goal but this was as good as it got for Asdee as the home side regained superiority once more and ran out very deserving winners in the end. Knocknagoshel lined out Danny Walsh, Bartley Rahilly, Billy Rahilly, Mike Murphy, John Brosnan, Lee Roche, Padraig Reidy, Edmond Walsh (0-3), Mike Walsh, Mike Brosnan, Joe Regan (0-1), John O'Keefe, Karl O'Connor (1-2), Denis Walsh (0-4), Niall Barrett (0-1).
